Peninsula Heritage School Reviews

“I give Peninsula Heritage a 5 star + rating. After having experienced the public schools in the most highly rated district in the area (and one of the most in CA), I can say that the parent teacher ratio affords individualized learning (at each child's level whether gifted, in need of extra help and everything in between) and happy successful children. My 2 children are so very different from one another and PHS serves then both equally well. My children have never been so happy, love school, are challenged and intellectually stimulated (which they were not in the public schools). I think it is by far the best elementary school in the South Bay and only wish there were a middle school.” This review was posted by a parent.

“A good but not great school. The school offers many benefits and resources, that are slightly above average and slightly better than a comparable Public School. The school's emphasis on character development has won many awards, and is admirable, but very rigid. There is significant variability in the quality of the teachers. Despite a significant investment in computer resources, there does not appear to be a commitment to integrate computer sciences into the daily teaching routines. Lastly, Peninsula Heritage should be lauded for there use of assemblies to disseminate information. Unfortunatley, Peninsula Heritage has not recognized that most of the parents must work to support their 'student' child as such school does not accomodate parents schedules for assemblies and especially for Parent - Teacher Conferences. I am dissapointed that I must assign a grade of C+” This review was posted by a parent.

“The school is very caring and nurturing toward the children. They have a tier learning program. Therefore, if your child is more advanced than the grade he/she is in they will be challenged by the next grade level. You know that your child is safe and in good hands when they are dropped off at school. My daughter is very content and is doing excellent at Peninsula Heritage School.” This review was posted by a parent.

“PHS is one of the best schools in the South Bay (this comes from a parent who's experienced quite a few of them). The school has small classes (most under 20 kids), each with two teachers. There's also many specialty teachers who support the main teachers and make for a really interesting, fun and creative curriculum. The school is great for gifted kids too - they have enrichment classes in language arts and they'll place kids in advanced math classes if it is warranted. I have four kids there now and they are all thriving, love going to school, and being challenged academically every day. What more can you ask for from a school? I do wish PHS went beyond 5th grade, I know a lot of parents would like that.” This review was posted by a parent.

“This is the best school in the South Bay! If I had to be critical of this school, I would have to say I wish it didn't stop at 5th grade. Maybe some day it won't.Also, there are waiting lists for classes. That is partially due to the very small class sizes and the fact the school isn't mainly focused on profits but on the welfare of the children. Since it is a non-profit school you know the resources go right back into the school. Be sure to check other schools to see if they are non-profit or if the school is run to make profit. My adopted son is currently in third grade there and every year seems to be better than the last which is hard to believe since each year I have felt my son has grown and matured so much. This school deserves a 5 star++ rating.” This review was posted by a parent.

“My sons attend PHS and we love it! The teaching is based on a 3-tiered teaching plan, and all of the children receive individualized attention commensurate with their abilities. Art, science, computer technology, music, drama, physical education and so much more are incorporated into the program.” This review was posted by a parent.

“I attended this school back in 1975-81 and now my son has started Kindergarten and even though the staff is completely different there is a definite sense of warmth and community that has endured. They provide such personalized attention whether because a child is advanced or having difficulty and they incorporate a broad range of creative activities as well - very well rounded with a computer room.” This review was posted by a parent.
